It is not always necessary to resort to invasive demolition, dust, and long construction times to renovate a service area. Bergamo Restauri recently completed the transformation of an old laundry room, converting it into a functional and extraordinarily bright space through the strategic use of resin.
The main challenge of this project was to completely upgrade the aesthetics and practicality of the room by intervening directly on the existing surfaces.
Resin flooring over tiles: the end of joints and grout lines
The distinctive feature of this intervention is the creation of seamless surfaces. Unlike installing new tiles, resin allowed us to achieve a unique coating that integrates both the floor and walls into a single material body.
Choosing resin for a laundry room offers immediate technical advantages:
- No joints: by eliminating grout lines, we removed the areas where dirt, mold, and humidity typically accumulate.
- Hygiene and waterproofing: the surface is completely sealed and non-porous, an essential feature for an environment where water and detergents are constantly in use.
- Zero maintenance: a solution designed to last, eliminating the need for future joint restoration or deep scrubbing of grout lines.
Renovating without demolishing: the advantages of resin coating
The strength of our working method lies in the ability to cover all surfaces without removing old tiles or coatings. This “overlay” approach guarantees unparalleled efficiency:
- Cost savings: debris disposal costs and the extensive labor required for demolition are entirely eliminated.
- Clean job site: the absence of demolition means zero dust inside the home and minimal disruption to the residents’ daily lives.
- Record turnaround times: the laundry room was fully functional again in just a few days, significantly faster than a traditional renovation.
Enhanced brightness and spatial feel
Thanks to the chromatic continuity and the selected reflective finish, the room has gained a surprising amount of natural light. Seamless surfaces eliminate the visual “interruptions” caused by joints, making the laundry area appear much larger, cleaner, and more modern.
The final result is a technical utility room transformed into a high-design space, where extreme practicality meets a contemporary minimal aesthetic.
